Anthony Cragg (born 1949 in Liverpool, lives in Wuppertal) is one of the world’s most influential sculptors of his generation. Already in 1985 the kestnergesellschaft presented his sculptural work, which at that time were still mainly from the composition of everyday objects.

Via collecting, organizing and joining materials which he finds around him, Cragg thematizes the various relations of man to his environment. This is still a main focus in Craggs work, which annexes in constantly surprising manners the subject and body worlds well-known to us and expresses them in a rich variety of form languages as well as through his virtuoso handling of various materials. Since the early 1980s until today, Cragg has been working with marble, wood, glass, bronze and fiberglass and converted his sculptural language, which has at first been figurative, into complex abstractions.

In his new catalog a combination of recent works and a selection of earlier works by the artist will be presented. The selected individual pieces will reflect matrix-like the entire universe of Cragg.
